Common Accidental Injuries

Personal injury claims involve many different types of accidents and injuries. Accidental injuries result in more than 29 million emergency room visits each year in the United States. Some injuries might affect you for a week, while others might leave you with permanent impairments and effects. Each injury claim will be unique based on the type of injury that occurred, and the following are some of the most common accidental injuries.

Broken bones – Many accident victims sustain fractures to  various bones in their body. Fractures can occur in your limbs, ribs, hips, skull, jaw, face, and more. Some broken bones require rest for weeks to heal, while others might require multiple surgeries and months or years of recovery time.

Traumatic brain injury – A TBI occurs when trauma damages your brain tissue. TBIs can be categorized as mild, such as concussions, or moderate or severe. Depending on where the injury occurred on the brain, the effects of this injury can impact your cognitive, physical, and/or behavioral abilities.Severe TBIs might result in an extended coma and permanent disabilities.

Spinal injuries – The spine is a critical part of the human body, but it is also prone to trauma and injury. Spinal damage can cause temporary loss of functioning in certain areas of the body, and spinal cord victims should always get emergency care. If the spinal cord is completely severed, a victim can be permanently paralyzed below the point of injury.

Soft tissue injuries – While perhaps not as serious as a spine or brain injury, sprains, strains, and tears of the soft tissue can be extremely painful and limiting.
