The attorney’s fees are in addition to costs, which vary by county. Costs include the filing fee, summons, fee to the sheriff or process server to serve the summons, and sometimes the fee to the Sheriff to remove the tenant from the property, which is called serving the Writ of Possession.

If the case becomes contested, meaning the tenant responds to the lawsuit or requests a rent determination hearing or countersues, the attorney’s fees and costs may increase.
